DOUBLE SIGNING: Chelsea agreeing move for 6 ft 4 Ligue 1 centre-back and Bundesliga No.10 star

Chelsea and Man Utd are reportedly keeping close tabs on any developments with the future of AS Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile.

After disappointing Premier League season in their own right, the Blues and the Red Devils are in the market for fresh faces as they bid to close the gap to Liverpool and Man City.

However, despite the desire to acquire new additions, neither team have made a signing heading into July, something which is likely to lead to a busy two months.

Bringing in a new centre-back is a priority for each of Erik ten Hag and Thomas Tuchel, and it is believed that they are assessing whether to rival each other for the same target.

According to Nice-matin, the two English top teams are involved in the race to secure the services of the highly-regarded Badiashile from AS Monaco.

The Ligue 1 giants have already witnessed Aurelien Tchouameni depart Stade Louis II for La Liga giants, Real Madrid for a fee which could rise to in excess of £80m.

Centre-back Strahinja Pavlovic has also departed for Red Bull Salzburg, already leaving Philippe Clement one centre-back down ahead of the new season.

Nevertheless, while team and head coach would prefer to retain the services of Badiashile, the 21-year-old has just two years left on his current deal.

That detail effectively leaves the France U-21 international on the market to interested teams, AS Monaco potentially not wanting to run the risk of the player’s deal entering its final 12 months.

Chelsea are prepared to fork out €200m to sign newer footballers and compete for the league title as well as the UCL. While the priority is to sign new defenders and strikers, the Blues are also looking to add a wide footballer. One of their premier options Alonso could be ready for a move away from Chelsea amid interest from Barcelona.

Although the Blues have not particularly targeted a certain individual, they are keeping tabs on Filip Kostic. Currently plying his trade for Eintracht Frankfurt, Serbia international has been a revelation at the German club over the past couple of years.

Kostic has transformed himself into one of the most dangerous wide footballers in Europe, thanks to his ability to whip in crosses into the box. Filip also brings a lot of energy and experience to the table, making him a shrewd option for the Blues.

With Alonso ready to leave the London club, the 29-year-old attacker could prove to be a wise investment for Chelsea as the German manager looks to add competition for Chilwell ahead of the new campaign. The Serbian attacker has enjoyed immense success in the Bundesliga.

But the Serbian could undoubtedly fancy putting his skills to the test in the PL, where his crossing prowess could become even more effective. The Blues, though, are keeping their options open by targeting other footballers in the market.
