SURPRISE AGREEMENT: Liverpool break the bank on to agree deal for€40m-rated Ligue 1 midfielder

Liverpool keen on to agree deal for€40m-rated Ligue 1 midfielder

Liverpool are allegedly preparing to challenge Chelsea for the signature of Monaco’s France international Aurelien Tchouameni during this summer’s transfer market.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been in impressive form for his Ligue 1 side during the 2021-22 campaign, netting twice in 28 appearances across all competitions, while the ace is also now a key player for his country.

Chelsea continue to be heavily linked with the youngster, with the Blues understood to be running ‘in-depth scouting’ on the ex-Bordeaux youngster.

However, according to The Athletic, the Reds are also interested in Aurelien, who has two-and-a-half years left to run on his existing deal with his team.

The report adds that the Merseysiders view the midfielder as the perfect signing amid the uncertainty surrounding the long-term futures of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner.

Aurelien, who has also previously been mentioned with Manchester United, has netted five times and registered four assists in 73 games for Les Monegasques in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes that it’s a “good sign” that Bukayo Saka has been mentioned with a move to Liverpool.

Speaking to reporters, the Spaniard said: “I think that’s great news when you have a lot of talk and people willing for you players, it’s a really good sign.

“They should be proud because that means they are doing extremely good work. I am really happy with Bukayo, and with what he’s doing, with how he’s development and the importance he has on the team.

“Most importantly with the impact that he’s able to make in each game. This is something that we want to keep improving in each game, because he has the capacity to do it.”
