Liverpool keep a close eye on 22-year-old Ligue 1 midfielder
Barcelona have allegedly emerged as another possible destination for AS Monaco midfielder and Liverpool target Aurelien Tchouameni.
In spite of his side’s inconsistent showings in Ligue 1, the Frenchman has emerged as one of the most in-demand players in Europe.
Considering the finances that would be involved in any potential transfer, a move to a Premier League outfit appears most likely with the Reds, Chelsea Liverpool and Manchester United having been linked with him in the past.
However, according to Sport, Blaugrana are ready to get involved in the hunt for the 22-year-old’s signature, providing that he doesn’t go somewhere else in the summer.
The report adds that the Catalans realistically have little interest in pushing through a deal later this year, instead preferring to make him a priority 12 months further down the line.
The Liverpool-linked player possesses a contract at Les Monegasques until the summer of 2024, although his side may be tempted into a sale should the club fail to secure European football for the 2022-23 season.
Elsewhere, boss Jurgen Klopp has claimed it’d be “crazy” to consider the prospect of a potential quadruple following last weekend’s EFL Cup triumph.
“No team in the history of English football ever won the quadruple, right? Because it’s really difficult. We are not even close to thinking about any crazy stuff like that,” Jurgen told reporters.
“If people think we have a chance, they see it as a compliment but I don’t see it as a compliment. We face a lot of really good football teams between now and the end of May.”
